Fun apple orchard with tons of homemade products. The pies and fresh apples are really good. The reason I didn’t give it a five star is that almost all of the delicious sounding apple products were made with massive amounts of high fructose corn syrup.
A gift shop and even a bar that serves up wine and hard cider. Lots to see, staff is abundant and very friendly and helpful. Take a day trip, it’s worth it!
Mercier is a favorite yearly stop for me. Try and go in early- to mid-October for the best selection. But even if you miss the "U Pick" season (early Fall), you can still do an absolutely lovely tractor ride that includes their delicious hard ciders. It's gorgeous out here, and Blue Ridge and Copperhill are close if you want to grab a beer and a bite in either scenic town.
So many customers during feel apple season but they handle all aspects of their retail operation with efficiency. The bakery was quite busy. Everyone wants fried pies and they are delicious. We always load up on apples to share and eat when we go through this area. Recommended stop if you like all things apple.
I went during the week, so it wasn’t too busy, I imagine weekends are very crowded. The wonderful aromas that hit you when you walk through the door are enough to make you want to stay for a while. There’s a bakery with those famous fried pies, breads, cookies etc... a little cafe to enjoy some coffee, tea or cider...
It was packed!! The Disney sized lines moved very quickly and everyone was very polite and customer oriented. Don’t leave without the apple cider donuts and the handheld fried fruit pies!! Microwave donuts 10 seconds and dip in maple syrup. Then fall back into a comfy chair in front of a fire. Life is good.
