We really enjoyed our train ride. We had members of our party with ages in the 50's, 40's, 20's and age 6. This is a good family activity for multiple age groups. It was early October, so we selected the open car train. We did need jackets, but we all agreed that we loved the breeze and view from the open car. They had a train car with food, such as hot chocolate, coffee, soda, popcorn, candy, etc... which you could walk to during the ride. The first segment of the trip was one hour with some pretty scenery. We had 2 hours to walk around when they dropped us off. After walking to the bridge by the Tennessee/Georgia border, looking in a few shops and eating lunch, we used up most of the 2 hours. We had one hour back to downtown Blue Ridge where we looked in more shops after we got off. Most of the train staff were older people who were lovely and made the trip enjoyable. I really want to go with my parents, nieces and nephews the next time.

This is a nice train ride however we didn't see much scenery. They stop for about 2 hours in a small town along the TN/GA border where you can shop and eat lunch. Even without the scenery it was a nice way to spend the afternoon. We rode in the VIP closed car vs. the open car and felt it was worth the extra money. They give you drinks, a sandwich and local pastries

Had a great time on the train ride... But some employees were very rude I asked what ticket number won the painting of the train that no one ever got to see.. I was so very rudely told... Don't worry all you need to know is that it wasn't you..... So now I wonder if there was ever a Honest drawing for a painting or was it just a money gimmick... Some people need to remember with out customer's you wouldn't have a... . Job..

Very nice thing to do doesn't take very long. It does it cost very much and get a history lesson on top of it. You could still see some of the ancient Indian fish traps as the train rides along the river going towards Tennessee. In the warmer weather or the cooler weather you could ride inside the covered cars as they are air conditioned. If it's pretty weather you can ride in the open cars and have fun. Children love it. Nice views and the neighbors along the train route like the wave at the train and the people wave back. At the end of the line in Tennessee as a little short layover where you can go do some shopping and eat and then get on the train and head back to Blue Ridge.

The staff is great and a lot of fun and the trip is beautiful. A great way to spend a few hours with friends or family set in a beautiful area. I go yearly as it's a great value for a family trip.
