Sat and Sunday they now open at 10 and it's a $15 brunch buffet only. Food was good. Complete with waffles station and omelet station. No donuts any longer. They had remodeled when compared to April of this year and now has a much bigger bar area. Buffet had a large variety of food
I wish them all the best and sincerely hope they make it. You should give them a try, I certainly will. I bet they work it all out.
I still can't figure out why this place wasn't more busy when we visited. The setting itself is fantastic. It kind of has that industrial craft/speak-easy feel to it where everything is wood and metal. The vault room is neat - I took a peak inside. The service was beyond outstanding (to whoever reads these, the server with the blue hair is ridiculously good at her job). She treated us like we were friends, like she was happy to see us, and like she truly wanted to be at work. The craft beer selection was good - we loved seeing Wicked Weed on tap here. I also had a cocktail, which was also very well prepared. We went for brunch and the food was fantastic. Our party of four left here full and happy.
All they need is a little polish. I didn't care for the music (and I love music). It was a little loud and I think it was electronic dance music??? (It was something I didn't recognize but I'm old.) If anything, the food came out too fast. That can't be a complaint....so it was just odd. It felt like we should be slowing down to savor the experience. A table cloth or place mats would have been nice and would have softened things up. (The food certainly deserves it.) Also, I found the lack of bread odd. To be honest, I didn't miss it (I'd ordered the Parmesan fries as an appetizer and they lasted throughout dinner) until dinner was almost over. It just felt like it should have been there. So , again, the food was great. But the experience was just a little off.
Now for the negatives: they either need a new chef, or train the existing chef in the basics. On our first visit, I order a steak cooked medium...it came to me extra rare, just seared on the outside. I sent it back, and as I mentioned, the manager was very apologetic and accommodating. They brought me a new steak, but unfortunately, it was also extra rare. I finally gave up and just didn't eat the steak...they credited my bill for the cost and I left hungry.
We are locals and really want to like this restaurant, but they have to make some serious improvements before we become regulars. First the positives: the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating and the mixed drinks are great. The Strawberry Salad is awesome! If your entree is not cooked correctly (which happens often), the manager is quick to respond and get you a new dish.
April 2017:
The server was nice and eager to please. So there was not any real problem with the service.
The bottom line: get a chef that knows how to cook meat to the requested temperature, season the foods correctly, and order enough food to meet customer needs. We haven't given up on The Vault yet but we need to see some improvements soon!
The food is first-rate (before you get away) so don't think this is a bad review. They just need a little positive feedback to improve.
Oct 2017:
I had the chicken breast, the wife had ribs and the couple with us each had something different. Each dish was above par. Really nice. (Ah! It comes to me our friend had the salmon and it was a little cool. Barely a hiccup in getting it fixed and she said it was excellent. Like I said, the food was first rate.)
The dessert -- upside down apple pie with pecans and vanilla ice cream -- was divine.
Revisited on Monday the 25th of October. Breakfast menu has been pared down to basics, pretty silly you can't get a proper eggs Benedict (only with sausage or bacon). We wanted more so we just had coffee. Was interesting watching a server eat her Biscuit while clearing tables. One last note watch your bill, coffee is listed as $2 on the menu & the receipt rings up $2.50. Our server had to check with the manager to correct???
On our second visit, this past week, we hoped that it would be a better experience, but we were disappointed. First, they were out of several items on the already limited menu...including the cheese curd appetizer and the salmon entree. We ordered the Bistro Steak with Cabernet sauce. The steak was just ok, but very bland, as the Cabernet sauce was just wine poured over the meat at the last minute. I am not a "steak sauce" person, but I asked for 57 sauce to make it palatable. Fortunately, the salad was great and Abby7, our waitress, did a great job, so it wasn't a total loss.
Waitress was very friendly and food was average. We were looking for homemade biscuits and did not find them here. Cheese grits are a must! Bacon was thick and crispy. We ordered a half dozen mini donuts (really donut holes) in the smores flavor and they were delicious. Atmosphere was nice.
