A lovely venue with great atmosphere and view. The trout was excellent but the sides were disappointing. We were there around noon on a weekday and they weren't very busy. The salads had lettuce that was brown and not fresh. The turnip greens tasted like they were canned and the coleslaw was lackluster at best. For the price it was very disappointing.
The service was actually very good. I can only imagine they are told there will be no adjustments if a customer isn't happy with their food.
Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars: I couldn't eat my meal because it just wasn't cooked properly. I got blackened scallops that was on the daily specials list and it came WAY over-salted. The spice mix wasn't exceptionally spicy...but it was horribly salty and almost burnt. But that's really not why I'm dropping a star. The main reason is because when I told the waiter that I could only eat 2 of the 4 (fairly small) scallops, he just seemed a bit sad for me & said it really just looked liked they had used too much of the blacking spice mix....which included salt. I was amazed that he didn't offer to get me more that was cooked and seasoned correctly. Or take the two I didn't eat off our bill. Everyone else's meal was delicious (shrimp was order by my two friends). The apple crisp was yummy and the veggie sides were a BIT salty also... but good.
Bad experience. We were seated at a table and six people were seated beside us after we waited for service for ten minutes. The party of six were served as soon as they sat down. A waiter never appeared at our table so we left, went to the front of the restaurant and described to the host what happened. No apologies. We were hungry so we ordered food to go. The food sat in the kitchen and got cold. I asked for the food and the host shoved it at me. Part of our order was wrong. Most of the employees were surly and very unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My wife and I had a very nice evening. A great atmosphere eating outside by the river. We both enjoyed the pecan crusted trout! We will be back.
4 stars only because the service was lacking. After we sat, we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came over, and another 10 for our drinks. Other than that, I have nothing but good things to say. The setting was beautiful with a great view out back. The almond crusted trout was one of the best things I have had the pleasure of putting in my mouth. And corn nuggets are always good. Great spinach and mushrooms as well. If they could clean up the service issues, this would easily be a 5 star rating.
